Voice recognition isn't too reliable. How can
I improve it?.
I have an event that triggers on A1. If I turn
on my lamp via homeseer which is A1, the event won't go, why?
E-mail stuff won't work!
How can I remotely connect to my HomeSeer web server
I have set up, I don't know my IP address, it always changes.
Hey, you didn't answer the question I have psychically sent to you!
Voice recognition no longer works, what happened?
I don't know! This happens occasionally. Reinstalling the VR will
possibly help. I've had better luck no using the agent (genie),
and best luck using the whole SAPI kit from Microsoft. The SAPI
(speech application programming interface) is free, but a large
download. Worth a try! Get it at

Microphone could be picking up background noise, be at too low
level, or noisy. Test it by recording using windows sound recorder.
If it sounds good to you, you're all set. Training is not too
critical if you have little accent, but necessary if you do or
are female. Even if you don't train it, but just set up a user
for female, female voices will do much better.
If you have a fast computer, use tools->Voice Recognition Properties
to change the sliders around. I find high accuracy setting helps
a lot but supposedly is slower, but for my system not much difference,
and better accuracy. Experiment with the bottom slider for accuracy
also.
I have an event that triggers on A1.
If I turn on my lamp via homeseer which is A1, the event won't
go, why?
Events triggered by X10 commands only work for commands actually
seen by your cm11a or other controller. In other words, commands
coming in from another controller. If you have HomeSeer send
the X10 command, it won't see it as incoming, and events don't
occur. Sure wish it did!
E-mail stuff won't work!
If you use the MAPI setting, mail won't be processed unless your
e-mail program is running. Using pop instead will get you mail
without your e-mail program having to run it. So use MAPI and
keep e-mail up or switch to pop.
How can I remotely connect to my HomeSeer
web server I have set up, I don't know my IP address, it always
changes.
Your computer must be connected to the Internet, and you must
know the IP address of your computer in order to do this. Since
many users dialups, the address can change. Users have written
scripts to upload the IP address to an ftp site.
Better yet, Scott Crevier has generously set up a free service
to do this, just visit http://www.x10.crevier.org/ip/
to set it up.

Yes the brain reader for the site is down. This FAQ will only get
better with input, so send some on our feedback page, or e-mail feedback@homeautomationforum.com.
