Talk to X10... deja vu

February 3, 2000

Since the X10 discussion died at the end, they're coming back another three days, from Monday 2/7 thru Wednesday 2/9. I expect them to answer the open questions and take some more. Everyone deserves a second chance!

Update

February 2, 2000

I've made the X10 discussion read only, and leave it there a while, and will faq it up for reference. A little disappointing in the end fizzle, but I'm trying to get X10 to post replies to the remaining open questions for y'all. I've had a couple of suggestions for other guests, please send me yours as well.

Poll

January 31, 2000

New poll, what's your HA controller? Lots of visitors are just starting and may not have one, just answer "other". Once you've taken the poll, a link will appear so you can view/participate in older polls. Thanks to Brian Karas for this one, he probably has all of them running (look at his setup in the "what's your setup" thread!)

Can we talk?

January 29, 2000

It's hard to find someone in the new chat feature, so I though let's try a scheduled chat, no topic just free for all. The date will be Wednesday February 2, 2000, 10pm eastern. The software supports text and voice, so you can be heard! Or muted.

Oh yea, I added a goofy looking icon on the pages near the bottom, called Human Click. If it says "chat" it means you can chat privately to me. If it doesn't say chat you can send e-mail with it. Just a toy to try out.

Discussion a success!

January 28, 2000

Our X10.com guest discussion was very successful! We didn't have any replies the last two days because our contact was ill. I've extended this to next Tuesday to give him a chance to respond to the remaining issues. Who else would you like to talk with? Let me know!

Update

January 24, 2000

Glenn Reimche has three scripts for HomeSeer, On_Off toggle, Light control, and acknowledge. He's using a fake parameter trick to allow controlling without hard coding particular voice commands, a good idea.

And the X10 talk is underway... don't forget to jump in before the week is done!

Talk to X10.com

January 23, 2000

I've opened the forum topic early for our guest discussion this week from Monday 1/24 thru Friday 1/28. Jump in and post your questions for X10.com, I expect the representative to post by Monday afternoon.

Chat?

January 22, 2000

I've put in a chat facility, so you can talk to each other with voice or text. I'm not sure if you're looking for this as a feature, but it was easy to add and if popular, we could have some scheduled chats occasionally. It will load an activeX control, so any users without windows are out of luck, sorry!

I'm not sure sure about the GigaCam being weatherproof. One of our members (Carol) noticed in e-mail and the X10 site, that it said "anywhere inside your home or business". And in some pictures it's not shown with the plastic weather cap. A good question for the guest discussion with X10.
