News 2/9/2000 - 2/29/2000
If you use HomeSeer and my caller id script, version 1.3.19 will break the script. I've uploaded a changed script.
If you have been planning to buy HomeSeer software (PC home automation program, see review area), the price will be $79 on April 1. The current price is still $39, thought a difference like that merits a heads-up if you've been putting it off. A telephone interface is in the works soon after, and will be a free update to all users. Buying it via this link helps support this site. Some users have mistakenly thought this site is tied to homeseer, but it's not. It just happens to be what I use and so reviewed it. I look forward to reviews of other software that you might use, but no takers thus far... whatcha waiting for?
YAFS! (Yet another forum section). I've added "Projects and Modifications" to the discussions area. This will be the place to hash out projects and hardware hacks, and will be a source for some of the articles in the Projects area. Scott Funk, a very helpful HA addict, is your moderator.
Our most active member, Carol, has done a summary of the Talk To X10 discussion we had. She's done a great job, so to get the big picture without reading the entire forum, check it out. It's in a new Articles area I set up for just this, and as usual user submissions are encouraged (or it will be a mighty empty area!) A new discussion topic for Bargains and Deals has been set up. Carol is the moderator for this topic that she came up with. The original idea is a way to know what the true x10 deals are without sifting through all that spa... I mean e-mail. If you spot a particularly good deal on something help everyone out by posting it. Vendors can do the same for truly outstanding bargains.
Been a bit lax on updates, but not much new anyway! I have a diagram of an FM transmitter schematic that Pete Fleming sent in in the Projects area. One topic I started in the discussion area is about garage door opening. I finally want to nail down all I want to do regarding this, the whole ball o' wax, so it's sort of a group effort, please chime in! Bottom line goal is the least expensive way to get that garage door doing it all (safely!).
The X10 guest discussion three-day-bonus-round is done and thanks to Michael Cole for answering all those questions. His last post has his e-mail and an open door for private questions. Let's hope they will do it again. |
