As I expained on the home page of the Forum, X10 announced the IR Commander through their newsletter but to a select few. I was surprised to find Ricks home page post announcing a new X10 product. I checked my calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st! Then I tried to find the IR Commander on the X10 site, guess what, it wasn't there! I check all the newsletter for that day and a few days back, nothing about the IR Commander! Even Rick said he had not received anything about this from X10.

As another example, there was an incident on select newsletters a while back which I had posted, I got a heads up from Rick on that one. X10 had sent out a newsletter for their XcamAnyWhere at $10 less than I had paid whih also included a $20 gift voucher, they did not send thid newsletter to me because I had just purchased an Xcam a few weeks before. This is a common marketing pratice used by X10, which was confirmed by Michael Cole the X10 rep. who was our guest here a short while back.

We set up this Bargains and Deals forum to try and get a heads up from as many of you as possible. As a matter of fact X10 states in every newsletter they send out:

If you think this is a good deal, then why don't you share it with a friend? Or if you know someone looking for gift ideas, pass it along.

Michael Cole said in reply to a post in the Talk to X10.com! forum:

"In cases like this we try to be fair to all our customers, however. If you learn about a promotion that you haven't been offered, you can call our sales staff and get the same deal, as long as it's within 30 days of the original promotion".

And they mean it because I called them about my experience and without any quibbling they credited my card. They honored what they said they would.

So,I encourage all of you to take X10's advice and share your good deal with a friend. Post anything you receive in the X10 newsletter that you find to be a new item or an extra special deal here, so the rest of us can also benefit from your find.

I think you're on to something here. By identifying all of the discount offers and publicizing specials and vouchers this forum has the potential to save us all a substantial sum of money.

Something that impresses me is the value of the X10.com specials. Wal-Mart and Kmart make a big deal about a $.99 price reduction. X10.com consistantly offers discounts of $10-$40 in price reductions, free hardware and voucher/coupons. It makes you wonder just what the manufacturing cost is for these devices.

I have had occasion to collect two or three gift vouchers that came in my email and not associated with a specific previous purchase, add them together and redeem them to order products with prices of $40 or more absolutely free of cost to me.

While quality of some products is an ongoing issue with X10.com, they certainly make it affordable for the informed buyer to acquire more products than would normally be possible on a tight budget.

This organization of discount offers creates the potential for big savings by Forum participants.

Thanks,

Thanks very much! I agree that with everyones participation we all stand to save considerably, I'm glad your onboard and like the idea. I hope others will see the potential too.

X10 is making it hard not to buy from them!
Add together, free shipping, discounts, gift certificates, and free items with purchase and you have an unbeatable combination.

And now with The Home Automation Forum's, Bargains & Deals Discussion area to help, how can you go wrong! We are even breaking it down into product subcategories to make it easier for everyone to find what their after.

I hope the message gets out, "If you are considering a purchase from X10, check The Home Automation Forum's Bargain & Deals discussion area first! and if you find a deal that we don't have posted, share it, by posting it in Bargains & Deals!"
